What We Provide

Leading up to Fringe

Our simple, inclusive offer starts from the point you accept our offer to reserve a spot within our programme, with support provided throughout the months and weeks before you join us in Edinburgh. We operate a straight-hire venue fee so the box office takings are your own. The venue hire fee is payable in installments in the lead up to the Fringe. Where anything is requested above our standard offer, the associated cost will also be agreed meaning there are no hidden costs.

Liaison and Marketing Support

Our programming team will be your main point of contact; there to guide you through the process of coming to the Fringe and available to answer your questions, no matter how small. Whilst you are responsible for marketing your show, we will provide advice and guidance for your show's marketing on your posters, flyers, press releases and press packs. Our inbox is always open, just send us a message.

Show Registration

Everyone who performs with us registers with the Fringe Society. We support you through this process by registering your show on your behalf, minimising the amount of admin you need to do, and preventing you from having to tell multiple people the same thing.

Technical Requirements Gathering

All our spaces are fully equipped with lighting, audio, projection and QLab5. From Spring, our team of Technical Consultants are available to discuss the technical needs for your show, ensuring it can work within the space and organise any additional equipment beyond our standard offer.

Company Liaison

Through the Fringe, our Company Liaison team becomes your main point of contact. There to field your queries, organise box office offers for you, provide marketing advice tailored to your show, support you with chasing up your reviews, run our social media and provide a friendly face for a chat and a biscuit.

Showcasing Your Show

We promote all shows performing with us at each Fringe. By covering our venues with posters of every show, our foyers become visually striking and interesting places for audience members to learn more about what we offer. Alongside the posters, we have flyer stands to display your flyers and information about the full programme of shows available at our venues. Throughout the Fringe, we promote our full programme through our social media channels. If you tag us, we will promote your content too!

Fully Equipped Theatre

All our spaces are fully equipped with sound, lighting, projection and storage as standard.

Technical Support

Technical Fit-Up

Before your first show, you will have a technical fit-up to ensure you are technically ready to perform. Our technicians will be there with you, able to programme cues and immerse you in the theatre for the first time. Your technical fit-up is focused on programming lighting, projection, and audio cues as well as balancing your sound if you are bringing a band or will be using multiple microphones. Though you should have time to also run through or block key scenes.

As standard, your technical fit-up slot will be the same length as your performance slot (the length of your show, plus your get-in and get-out time before and after your show). Some shows will be able to purchase extra fit-up time for an extra cost, though this is subject to availability.

Technical Support

Our technical team will also join you before and after every show, in the time that's for your sole use, making sure you are ready to perform and there to solve any glitches along the way.

What Else to Consider

As well as finding the right venue for your show, there are a few other costs to think about when getting everything sorted for the Fringe. While the list below isn't comprehensive, it offers a helpful starting point for getting your show ready. Our team will be available throughout the process to support you and answer any questions you may have.

Fringe Registration

One of the steps in the process is registering your show with the Fringe Society. This means it can be listed in their programme and sold through their website and app (plus additional benefits). We complete the administration of registering for you. However, the Fringe Society does require a fee to register with them. Depending on the time of year and how many performances you have, the registration fee can differ.

More information on current registration fees can be found on edfringe.com.

Accomodation

Sorting out where you're going to stay is a big part of your planning and it's likely to be one of your biggest costs. We'd definitely recommend looking into accommodation as early as you can. Edinburgh offers loads of options to suit different budgets, like hostels, hotels, student halls, local rentals, and even campsites. In recent years, the Fringe has also run an Artist Accommodation Portal, which does provide some options of the available places to stay.

Insurance and Licensing

A requirement of performing with the majority of Edinburgh Fringe Venues, including us, is to have Public Liability Insurance. There are lots of companies who provide Fringe specific insurance, the edfringe website has a services directory to help find the right insurance for you.

Depending on your show, you may require additional licensing. Every registered Fringe show must fill in a music licensing form from the Fringe Society to share whether it uses music or not to determine whether a music license is needed. Additionally, if you're performing an existing or well-known piece, you'll also need to make sure you have the rights to perform it.

Show Operators

Our technicians will be on hand for every get in and get out of our show. However, we do not include technicians who will operate your show within our standard offer. We have a small number of show operators for a per-hour fee. We have limited availability so cannot guarantee that we will be able to provide their services. Therefore, you may need to organise operator(s) for your show.
