The Sanctuary
Our largest space in the main church hall - an atmospheric and striking place found on the entrance level of Paradise in Augustines. It’s perfect for technically ambitious, large scale shows including live bands and concerts, burlesque and cabaret, dance and particularly full scale musicals with or without live accompaniment.

Capacity: 115 (raked)
Stage (WxD): 8m x 6m
The performance area will be covered with black dance floor, laid over a short pile carpet
with an intermediate wood layer. Parts of the stage will need to be kept clear for fire access,
though it can be acted upon. This is shown on the floor plan.
The stage area includes a raised dais approximately 30cm high, with an intermediate step at the
front and sides.
The drapes create a cross-over behind the performance area.

Wing spaces
Wing spaces are defined by black drapes. They can be lifted to create a band pit in the
front stage right wing.
Height to Grid: 4.6m
The overall height of the space is around 10m. The height in the wings is 3m.
Access to The Sanctuary
Access to Paradise in Augustines is via three shallow steps or a ramp is available upon request. Once inside, The Sanctuary has level access from the front of house. The audience enter down the side of a raked seating rig, with one row of seats on the floor and several further rows accessed via steps on a central aisle. Unfortunately our dressing rooms are not wheelchair accessible.

Lighting & Atmospherics
The Sanctuary is one of the most well-equipped spaces of its size at The Fringe, featuring
full-colour LED Profile General Cover, LED side & back light and a range of moving fixtures
to facilitate versatile spotlighting/specials and high impact effects.
Water-based Haze is supplied as standard.
2025 Lighting Plan
Sound
This space has 2 flown speakers covering the audience, 2 subs under the seating and 2 flown
foldback speakers covering the stage.
A Behringer X32 digital mixer is provided for control.
2 SM58 microphones are provided, and a 16-channel digital stage box can be used in
the stage-right wing or on stage for live audio.
Additional foldback speakers are available for use on stage or in the wing for bands. Radio Mic
systems and additional equipment can be provided at an extra cost.
Projection
1920 x 1080p on a 3.6m motorised screen upstage.
QLab 5 is available in-house, and a HDMI connection
is available at the technical desk for other devices.
We recommend using QLab for all video playback.
QLab
QLab 5 on a Mac Mini is available for playback of sound and projection from the technical desk.
Storage
Each show is allocated a designated storage area of roughly 3m x 3m on the balcony within the space for sets, props and costumes. This area will not be accessible outside of a show’s performance slot.
